Before Bratz and Moster High there was Barbie. Sure she gave many of us a warped self image wondering why we weren't wasp waisted with feet perfectly shaped for high heels. She also fueled our fafantasies of having it all the glamorous beauty queen, astronaut, Doctor, business woman, girlfriend, mother and wife. Regardless, of Barbie's unrealistic features I can't help feelings of nostalgia when I see a Barbie from the 80's or 90's. Especially the once heavily sought after Happy Holiday and Winter Fantasy Barbies.

The first Happy Holiday Barbie came out in 1988 and was the first collectable Barbie. My sister and I had the 1989 doll decked in white organza and faux fur. The Happy Holiday Barbie was all we wanted for Christmas and no other doll would do.

After the popularity of the 1988 Happy Holiday doll Mattel recognized the collectable value of the series and only released 35, 000 dolls making the doll hard to find. My Grandparents even put the office Secretary Cathy on the hunt for the doll. Cathy did find the doll helping my Grandparents to make it one of the most memorable holidays ever.
The Happy Holiday series lasted only 10 years from 1988-1998, but Matel had other collections like the Holiday Pink Box, Winter Fantasy, and Avon Winter collection.

From the Pink Box collection there is the 1994 Winter's Eve Barbie. She is beautiful, dressed in a red an green plaid gown. A nice holiday decoration or affordable addition to a collection.

Available in both brunette and blonde is the rare 1995 Winter Fantasy Barbie. These two are decked in gold and faux fur. A winter treat for a collector.

Lastly,  the 1996 Winter Rhapsody from the Avon collection. She is sure to bring feelings of nostalgia in her classic pink and silver gown.
